WHO IS DOMINICK MCKINLEY?
Dominick McKinley is a five-star DL from Acadiana High School in Lafayette, LA. The 6-foot-5-inch, 280-pound DL committed to Texas A&M over Texas, Oklahoma, LSU and Ohio State. He is also on the track team at Acadiana, where he threw a shot put 47-foot-11-inches last year.
WHAT IS THE IMPACT OF THE COMMITMENT FOR TEXAS A&M
The commitment of McKinley gives Texas A&M their second five-star recruit of the 2024 class according to both 247 Sports and On3 Recruiting. On3 ranks Texas A&M’s recruiting class number 6 overall and number 4 in the SEC.
HOW QUICKLY CAN DOMINICK MCKINLEY CONTRIBUTE AT TEXAS A&M?
Of Texas A&M’s eight defensive linemen on the depth chart, only two are seniors. McKinley is one of three DLs who have committed to the Aggies for the 2024 class. Seeing the field in 2024 will be difficult but it will be possible if McKinley works hard and beats out some of the younger talent on the DL brought in over the past two seasons.
SCOUTING DOMINICK MCKINLEY
Dominick McKinley is a big-bodied DL who, amazingly, has the ability to get even bigger. He has position flexibility as he can play both defensive tackle and defensive end. McKinley has the size and power to push big blockers back and with that size, he eats blocks to allow second-level defenders to make plays. Will need to add to his pass rush moves as he will not be able to bully every SEC offensive lineman he faces. Has good length and uses his hands well to shed blocks. Finished 2022 with 86 tackles, 10 sacks, two interceptions and one touchdown.
