WHO IS WILLIAMS NWANERI
Williams Nwaneri is a consensus five-star Defensive Lineman from Lee’s Summit North High School in Lee’s Summit, MO. The 6-foot-6-inch, 260-pound stud Defensive Lineman committed to Missouri over Oklahoma, Tennessee, Georgia, and Oregon.
WHAT IS THE IMPACT OF THE COMMITMENT FOR MISSOURI
Nwaneri gives Missouri their first five-star recruit in 2023 and his ranking will challenge former Tigers WR Dorial Green-Beckham (2012) as the highest-rated recruit in Missouri history. According to the On3 rankings Missouri has two-Four-Star commits and nine-Three-Stars. Landing Nwaneri is a huge win for head coach Eli Drinkwitz as Nwaneri is considered by some outlets as one of the top three recruits in the nation.
HOW QUICKLY CAN WILLIAMS NWANERI CONTRIBUTE AT MISSOURI?
With his talent and growth potential Nwaneri can step in and start in 2024 for Missouri. If he plans on playing in the interior position, he will need to bulk up some to stack up against the SEC offensive lines he will be facing week in and week out. Seven of the eight players listed on Missouri’s two-deep for defensive linemen are seniors so the chance to start in 2024 is very high for Nwaneri.
SCOUTING WILLIAMS NWANERI
Williams Nwaneri has good size for an interior lineman but will still need to bulk up if he plans on staying on the interior line. He is versatile enough to play both on the interior and the EDGE. Nwaneri is very agile and has great ability in changing direction for someone of his size. He is very quick off the ball and has enough speed to chase runners down from behind. Has great length and can disengage from offensive linemen quickly. In 2022 he had 56 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, and 12 sacks as he led Lee’s Summit North to the Missouri 6A title game.
