WHO IS JAMARI HOWARD

Jamari Howard is a consensus four-star cornerback from Miami Norland High School in Miami, FL. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound corner chose the Seminoles over Michigan State and Florida. Howard was previously committed to Michigan State but he decommitted from the Spartans on May 13, 2023. Howard also ran track his junior year at Hialeah Westland High School and was clocked at 22.80 seconds in the 200-meter dash and 49.71 seconds in the 400-meter dash.

WHAT IS THE IMPACT OF THE COMMITMENT FOR FLORIDA STATE

The commitment of Howard gives Florida State their 23rd commit for the 2024 class, which is ranked first in the ACC and fourth overall. Howard is the third corner committed to Florida State, however, he can also play safety. That kind of position flexibility is valuable.

HOW QUICKLY CAN JAMARI HOWARD CONTRIBUTE AT FLORIDA STATE?

The depth chart for cornerbacks at Florida State has two seniors, two juniors, one sophomore, and two freshmen. With two other corners committed to the Noles Howard will have to work hard to see the field next season. With his position flexibility, it is possible for Howard to get some time at safety or at the Buck spot in Florida State’s defense.

SCOUTING JAMARI HOWARD

Jamari Howard is a tall cornerback who uses his incredible height and length to frustrate receivers. His 6-foot-8-inch wingspan is massive! Howard is a hard hitter, often using that safety mentality even while playing corner. He is not afraid to get involved in stopping the run as he sheds blocks well and is a very good tackler. His length causes receivers problems when playing press coverage although he does play off more often than he presses. He has good recovery speed if he does get beat. Very dangerous in the return game. Will need to bulk up some to compete with the bigger ACC receivers and running backs.
