Who is Gatlin Bair?

Gatlin Bair is a 6-foot-2-inch 195-pound wide receiver from Burley, Idaho. He picked the Broncos over the likes of Alabama, Michigan, and national championship runner-up TCU. Bair has a superb athletic background competing in track and field as well as on the hardwood for Burley Senior High School. Though his athletic profile is not limited to the high school arena, Gatlin competes in track and field on the Olympic stage. Posting impressive times, and jumps at the Junior Olympics each of the past two competition cycles. Gatlin is rated a high four-star prospect and is overall rated as a top 40 football prospect according to 247sports Composite and the top player in the state of Idaho. He is the highest-rated commitment in the history of Boise State recruiting.

What is the impact of the commitment on Boise State?

Well, enormous Boise State landing a player of that caliber is not only rare but nearly unheard of. The Broncos are a Group of 5 program, despite some of the national successes they have had. This type of player can bring other highly rated prospects to Boise, Idaho and the program has had very little trouble sending players to the next level.

The most important position in football is the quarterback position, if the blue turf wasn't enough of a selling point having a partner who runs a 10.18 100-meter sure is. That 10.18 would have been good enough for sixth in the NCAA Track and Field in 2022 which means he would have been an All-American at the college level as a high school senior. Expect explosive plays down the field for the Broncos.

How quickly can Gatlin Bair contribute on the gridiron?

Gatlin Bair would impact at virtually every school right away, including Alabama, Michigan and others. This young man has a rare talent, Boise State will probably have him playing as both a starting wide receiver and in the return game right away. He could also play defense if he and the staff decided to utilize his talent on that side of the ball.

Scouting Profile

Gatlin Bair is a unique talent, while everyone knows he has a talent nobody can teach; speed that the end of his athletic profile. Bair is no one-trick pony; the young man is a bronco. He shows outstanding leaping ability and soft hands. He is able to consistently win against both zone and man coverage, he has excellent body control as well as balance so he is difficult to bring down on first contact. Gatlin is a big young man and will be easily north of 200 pounds before his freshman season starts. He also has the ability to play defense, he is a tenacious tackler, understands tackling angles, and was a terror in the backfield of several Idaho football teams. His athletic profile and high school film scream all-purpose reminding me often of San Fransisco 49ers All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey.
