In 2023, the UTSA Roadrunners had a successful debut in the American Athletic Conference (AAC), securing a third-place finish with an impressive 7-1 record in conference play. UTSA won numerous individual postseason accolades, with 16 players named to the all-conference teams and linebacker Trey Moore winning the AAC Defensive Player of the Year award.

From an overall team perspective, the Roadrunners secured the program's first bowl victory with a 35-17 win over Marshall in the Scooter's Coffee Frisco Bowl at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.

are all of the key players returning?

No, the 2024 UTSA football schedule will be tougher as a result, with significant talent gaps to overcome due to the departure of 11 starters because of eligibility or the transfer portal. Among those 11 players, five were first-team all-conference selections: quarterback Frank Harris, wide receiver Joshua Cephus, linebacker Trey Moore, cornerback Kam Alexander, and safety Rashad Wisdom.

five impressions of the utsa 2024 football schedule

  1. With nine of the 12 games in Texas, UTSA will not be worn down by travel. The team also finishes the season with three of their last four games in San Antonio.

  2. The road game at Texas State is expected to be challenging, as the Bobcats narrowly lost 20-13 to the Roadrunners last year in the Alamodome.

  3. Cash the check immediately after the Texas game, because it is going to be a rough day in Austin.

  4. Based on 2023 records, the road schedule (18-31) is slightly easier than the home schedule (22-26).

  5. UTSA will not face either of the top teams in last year's conference standings, SMU or Tulane.
