Alabama had a big day Saturday, not only did they have its first A-Day Game of the Kalen DeBoer era, they also landed a commitment from three-star wide receiver and speedster Lotzeir Brooks. DeBoer continues to prove that he can recruit in the Southeastern Conference by landing his ninth commit of the 2025 class.
Who is Lotzeir Brooks?
Brooks is a three-star wide receiver out of Millville High School in New Jersey, standing at 5-foot-10 and weighing 180 pounds. Brooks chose Alabama over Kentucky and Tennessee.
Scouting Lotzeir Brooks
Lotzeir has incredible speed that makes him a threat to score anytime he gets the ball. He was clocked at 22.1 mph last fall. Last season at Millville, Brooks caught 61 passes for 1,295 yards and 22 touchdowns. He also currently holds the South Jersey records for career receiving yards (3,355) and TD catches (51) with his senior season still left to play.
What Does the Commitment Mean for Alabama?
Alabama has not had a consistent playmaker at wide receiver since Jameson Williams and John Metchie left for the NFL Draft in 2022. While Alabama has recruited and landed highly-touted wide receivers, none have become that go-to player. What Brooks lacks in size, he makes up for with his speed and agility and has the potential to become a player at the next level. While Alabama currently has 13 receivers on the roster, Brooks's speed should get him on the field early, possibly returning kickoffs and punts.
Brooks becomes the ninth overall commit in Alabama's 2025 class and the second wide receiver to commit alongside four-star Derick Smith.
