Who is London Merritt?

London Merritt is a four-star defensive end from Bradenton Florida. He spent his high school playing career in Georgia at Woodward Academy before transferring to play under Coach Billy Miller at IMG Academy. Merritt is listed at six-foot-two, 250 pounds while being On3's number three defensive end coming out of the state of Florida in 2025. London Merritt chose coach Ryan Day and Ohio State over the likes of Alabama, Auburn and North Carolina.

What impact does this commitment bring the Buckeyes?

With this addition, Ohio State is now ranked fourth in the 2025 recruiting rankings. Merritt is the second four-star defensive end that has committed to the Buckeyes under this class as he is paired with Philadelphia's Zahir Mathis.

How quickly can London Merritt Contribute at Ohio State?

For the 2024 football season, the Buckeyes will have three upperclassmen filling the top of the depth chart. With the transfer portal along with the draft being such a big part of today's game London Merritt could march on campus and immediately make a name for himself but with so many current players already in line realistically Merritt will be yet another man to wait and contribute later rather than sooner.

Scouting London Merritt

Going against multiple teams with college-level players London has been able to win at the line of scrimmage consistently every game. He plays big and uses every bit of his six-foot-two frame as he pushes the opposing offensive tackles back off the ball. For someone who is nearly average height off the edge, Merritt uses his track speed to track down anyone with the ball.
