AUBURN 2023 RECRUITING BREAKDOWN (DEFENSE)

Hugh Freeze and company have come in and hit the transfer portal hard, resulting in the third-ranked transfer class in the country. This feat has distracted everyone from the wonderful job they have done recruiting at the high school level, so here is a quick review on the incoming talent.


In the 2021-2022 season, Faulk landed a very solid 82 tackles, with 30 being for loss, with 11 sacks, 1 forced fumble, and 2 fumble recoveries. (According to 247SPORTS).


In the 2022-2023 season, Lee picked off 7 passes, with 2 of them being in the Georgia 3A State Title game. All while earning Maxpreps All American Junior 2nd team honors. (According to 247SPORTS)


In the 2022-2023 season, Reed had 33 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 8 sacks, 10 quarterback hurries, and 2 pass deflections at the line.

In the 2022-2023 season Smith had 42 tackles, with 4 being tackles for loss. Smith also had 5 interceptions with 2 pass breakups. (According to MAXPREPS)


In the 2022-2023 season, Love had 69 total tackles, 3 interceptions, with 68 interception yards, and averaged 22.7 yards per interception.


Terrance Love also played wide receiver where he had 8 receptions, 188 yards (average of 23.5 yards per completion), and 3 receiving touchdowns. (According to MAXPREPS)


In the 2021-2022 season Scott only pulled in 2 total tackles, according to MaxPreps.


In the 2022-2023 season Hood played on both sides of the ball taking snaps at wide receiver, cornerback, quarterback, and running back.


On offense Colton Hood racked up 186 rushing yards, 647 receiving yards, 279 passing yards, and 13 touchdowns.


On defense, Hood gained 40 total tackles and 3 interceptions. Hood was also a huge part of the return team returning 2 punts and a kickoff for touchdowns. (According to 247SPORTS)


In the 2022-2023 season Wilky racked up 37 solo tackles, 29 assisted tackles, and 66 total tackles, 16 tackles for loss, with 5 of them being sacks. (According to MAXPREPS)


In the 2022-2023 season CJ grabbed 2 fumble recoveries, 18 solo tackles, 32 assisted tackles, 50 total tackles, and 2 tackles for loss. (According to MAXPREPS)

In the 2022-2023 season Johnson racked up 31 solo tackles, 43 assisted tackles, 74 total tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, 1 interception, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 forced fumble. (According to MAXPREPS)


Quientrail Jamison-Travis 3* ~ DL (Iowa Western C.C)

In the 3 seasons Travis was at Iowa Western Jamison-Travis racked up a total of 52 solo tackles, 50 assisted tackles, 102 total tackles, 11.5 sacks, 81 sack yards, 21.5 tackles for loss, 4 forced fumbles, 5 fumble recoveries, and 6 pass breakups. (According to Iowa Western Athletics)


Chancellor Anthony 0* ~ CB (Tyler J.C)

In the 2021-2022 season Anthony only played in 4 games at Tyler Junior College, in those 4 games he was able to pick up 13 solo tackles, 1 assisted tackle, 14 total tackles, and 1 interception. (According to Tyler JuCo Athletics)


Recruiting is one of the most important aspects in all of college football, and, although Coach Freeze has hit the recruiting trail hard, he’s hit the transfer portal even harder.


The transfer portal is bringing in immediate, day-one talent. High school recruiting, on the other hand, brings the future of Auburn Football.
