Believe it or not, Week 3 of the college football season is already in the books. The Big 12 Conference is heating up, and so are a few of the conference's best players. The Big 12 announced the Players of the Week for Week 3, with plenty of high-level performances to choose from. While many are deserving, the Big 12 selected an offensive, defensive, special teams and newcomer to win this award. Here are some of the honor-worthy performances.

Big 12 Player of the Week: Offense

RB RJ Harvey, UCF

The UCF Knights (3-0, 1-0) and the TCU Horned Frogs (2-1, 0-1) battled it out in the first game that counted toward the Big 12 standings—and it was a dogfight. The Knights squeezed by the Horned Frogs, winning by a score of 35-34. Running back RJ Harvey was a key player for the Knights, going off for 180 yards and 2 touchdowns. TCU's defense struggled to slow Harvey, and he never released the gas.

Even though they are the only team to play and win a Big 12 Conference game, they now hold the No. 1 spot in the Big 12 standings. Every win in Big 12 play matters, and the talented RB will continue to be huge for UCF.

Defense Player of the Week

CB Travis Hunter, Colorado

Hunter continues to impress the football universe, and this weekend took it to another level. Proving to be a true unicorn, Hunter played 123 snaps between his offensive and defensive duties when the Colorado Buffaloes (2-1) took on the Colorado State Rams (1-2). On offense, Hunter went off for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns and managed to get Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week as well. His defensive stats were equally impressive. Hunter garnered 5 tackles, a pass defended and an interception. Hunter is essential on both sides of the ball for Colorado, so don't be surprised if he gets a couple more Big 12 Player of the Week awards.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Returner Dylan Edwards, Kansas State

When the No. 13 Kansas State Wildcats (3-0) took on the Arizona Wildcats (2-1) many expected it to be a showdown. However, this was not the case, as Kansas State dominated and won 31-7. Edwards had a huge impact on special teams, returning a punt for a 71-yard touchdown.

Edwards is also a solid running back for Kansas State, putting up 41 yards against Arizona. The former Colorado Buffalo has speed and can get down the field with force, making him a useful weapon for Kansas State for the coming weeks.

Newcomer of the Week

Defensive Lineman T.J. Jackson, West Virginia

The West Virginia Mountaineers (1-2) have been disappointing so far, but defensive lineman TJ Jackson was a bright spot as they lost the Backyard Brawl to the Pitt Panthers (3-0) The former Troy Trojan won Big 12 Newcomer of The Week for grabbing 4 tackles for loss, 6 total tackles and 1.5 sacks. If the Mountaineers want to come back from this early season slide, Jackson will have to continue this type of player and the defense around him will have to elevate.

The Big 12 is heating up, and as we get closer to league play, you won't want to miss any of the action. Stay tuned in here at College Football Dawgs for more Big 12 coverage.
