The Florida State Seminoles have been busy on the recruiting trail and transfer portal. Their most recent addition, Davonte Brown commits to FSU after spending the 2023 season with the in-state rival Miami Hurricanes. Beginning his career at Central Florida in 2020, the Miami native joins a Seminoles secondary that needs veteran leaders after departures from many key players of their 2023 ACC Championship team.

In Brown, the Seminoles add a taller corner with reach. He is a fluid mover with solid speed and quick reactions to read and identify plays. He plays physically and is aggressive always going to the ball carrier. At 6'2" and 185, he has quick feet and a solid change-of-direction ability. He can switch seamlessly from his backpedal and mirror receivers. The addition of Brown is the seventh via the transfer portal for the Seminoles who have been busy of late adding veteran experience on both sides of the ball.

Brown to date has appeared in 36 games, starting in 31, and has recorded 86 tackles and has 18 pass deflections, and three interceptions. Although the move puts him on opposite sides of an in-state rivalry, his brother plays for the Miami Hurricanes. Brown made the decision based on scheme fit saying "I'm a tall and longer corner so I like to play in press (schemes), play physical, get aggressive. I feel like their scheme definitely fits me."

Although the season ended on a sour note for the Seminoles, the future does look bright with the quality additions to the roster that have been made through the transfer portal and recruiting in general.
