Dawg Preview: Virginia Tech vs Syracuse

Writer's picture: Mark FainMark Fain

Thursday night football finally returns to Blacksburg on ESPN. If you have been watching college football since, the early 2000s you would have noticed that Virginia Tech fixture there. This is a perfect stage for Brent Pry and staff to show the nation that Virginia Tech is improving and they are getting back to the Virginia Tech of ole.

TV: ESPN 7:30 pm EST from Blacksburg Virginia

On the Call: Matt Barrie and Dan Mullen

Syracuse Radio Network WEBO 107.9

What's at stake?

For, the Hokies this is a key game on a National stage to show how much they have improved under Coach Brent Pry. Syracuse has a chance to redeem themselves after the 40-7 loss at UNC. This will definitely be a must-see TV for Thursday night football.

Key Players: Virginia Tech

WR: Jaylin Lane had a breakout game last week against Wake Forest.

OL: The offensive line must have a good game

QB: Kyron Drones had his best game as a Hokie against Wake Forest

Key Players: Syracuse

QB: Garrett Shrader is looking to bounce back after the UNC game.

OL: The offensive line must hold up against the tough Hokie defensive line.

Prediction:

This game will be very interesting for both teams, Virginia Tech is looking to recapture the glory days of Virginia Tech football as Brent Pry tries to build it back. Hokie Nation is hoping "The Terror Dome" makes an appearance this Thursday night and wills the Hokies to the win. However, Syracuse is a very solid team and the Hokies will have to play with the same energy and fire as they had over the past 3 games. I believe this will be a back-and-forth game with the Hokies squeaking out a win.
