Dawg Review: Boise State Wins Gold without a Coach

After starting the season 5-5 the Broncos parted ways with Andy Avalos. Throughout his three seasons as head coach for Boise State Coach Avalos went 22-14 and was even named 2022 Mountain West Coach of the Year following a 10-4 season.

Once the firing occurred, the Broncos named Spencer Danielson Interim Head Coach to finish the season; but what happened after being named Interim Head Coach?

He led his Boise State Broncos to a Mountain West Championship!

Coach Danielson went 3-0 to finish off the season outscoring opponents 116 - 49 with a 44 - 20 blowout MWC Championship win over Barry Odom's UNLV Rebels.

This makes the first time EVER an Interim Head Coach wins a conference championship in the FBS.

When Interim Coach Danielson got his second win, he informed the media that he had formally interviewed for the vacant head coaching position.

Can Hiring a Successful Interim Pay Off For Boise State?

Absolutely! Just ask Georgia Tech how they like Coach Brent Key after he led them to a bowl game in year one.

Coach Danielson already knows the players and knows which members of the staff deserve to stay and which don't. He only has to do the hard part by letting some of the staff members go...

There is no reason for the Broncos to search for the next leader of this team, TAKE THE INTERIM LABEL OFF!

Boise State Broncos fans:

Congratulations, you have your winning leader as long as the decision-makers don't screw it up.
