Four-star wide receiver Corey Simms from St. Louis has announced his commitment to USC. The Trojans, led by wide receivers coach Dennis Simmons, have long targeted Simms, who received offers from Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Missouri, Ole Miss, Penn State and others. Before ultimately deciding on USC, Simms had narrowed his options down to Mizzou, the Nittany Lions and Southern Cal.
Corey Simms Bio, Stats
At Christian Brothers Preparatory School, the 6-foot-3, 185-pound St. Louis native helped his team win a state title in 2023, catching 79 passes for 1,049 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also excelled on defense, snagging 2 interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.
On3 rates Simms as the No. 3 overall prospect in the "Show-Me State" and the No. 44 wide receiver in the country.
Simms' Recruitment
As noted, Simms' primary recruiter was receivers coach Simmons. Coach Lincoln Riley was also involved. Simms told reporters that members of USC coaching staff came to St. Louis to make an official scholarship offer to him in January. Simms said Simmons has been "in continuous contact with him" since then.
Simms visited USC on June 7. Afterward, he told On3 he is "pumped up about USC!" He added that he and his parents "enjoyed every minute" of their visit and that he envisions himself as a Trojan. Furthermore, Simms said he looks forward to being on a Trojans roster filled with players bound for the NFL.
USC's Tumultuous 2025 Recruiting Cycle
June has seen commitments and de-commitments in the Trojans' 2025 class. Five-star defensive linemen Justus Terry and Isaiah Gibson and four-star safety Hylton Stubbs de-committed, while four-star EDGE Hayden Lowe and four-star cornerback Shamar Arnoux committed.
Simms is the second wideout to pledge to USC's 2025 class, which includes four-star Baltimore pass catcher Romero Ison. Overall, USC has 12 commitments and is ranked No. 15 in the nation by On3.
USC Trojans: Wide Receiver U
Long known as "Tailback U," Southern Cal has more recently been dubbed "Wide Receiver U." The team whose legendary tailbacks include Mike Garrett, OJ Simpson, Ricky Bell, Charles White, Marcus Allen and Reggie Bush, has also featured all-time great wide receivers including Hall of Famer Lynn Swann, No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick Keyshawn Johnson, first-team All-American Steve Smith and first-team All-Pro Amon-Ra St. Brown. Additionally, current NFL rosters are chock full of standout Trojan receivers—Drake London, Michael Pittman Jr., JuJu Smith-Schuster, Jordan Addison and newly drafted Brenden Rice and Tahj Washington. Thus, is it unsurprising that ESPN recently rated USC as the preeminent wide receiver university.
Simms looks to become an integral part of this illustrious fraternity of receivers.
