Head coach Kirby Smart and the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs (10-2, 6-2 Southeastern Conference) recently defeated the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (7-5, 5-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) 44-42 in 8 overtimes on Nov. 29. With the Bulldogs defeating the Yellow Jackets, it meant that the Bulldogs are on their way to the College Football Playoff.

But they face a tough task before that in the SEC Championship Game. Georgia gears up for another bout with the No. 2 Texas Longhorns (11-1, 7-1). The Bulldogs already defeated the Longhorns 30-15 on Oct. 19 at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin. Texas. The two teams will face off in the rematch on Dec. 7 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga.

Bulldogs offensive lineman Tate Ratledge and inside linebacker C.J. Allen spoke to the media on Dec. 3 about the title game and how they will look to slow down the Longhorns.

Allen on the Texas Offense

"I think they're a very versatile offense," he said. "They have speed, speed kind of everywhere. They got some great backs and great receivers. Also, you've got to acknowledge the quarterback, both of them really, so two good quarterbacks also."

In the first matchup, Texas starting quarterback Quinn Ewers completed 25-of-43 passes for 211 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. Those are not bad stats, but the Georgia defense looks to limit him further in the rematch.

Ratledge on What Texas Did Well in the First Game

"I didn't get to play that game because I was still recovering from an injury, but they are a very physical front," he said. "They are very big, very good with their hands, and very good at using their size. So, we have just been honing in on that during practice and been focusing on certain things to handle that."

The Longhorns' defensive line had 4 tackles for loss and 1 sack in the first game against the Bulldogs. Georgia hopes to clean that up in the rematch.

Allen on How Georgia Shuts Down Texas' Run Game

"Like I said, they still have good backs with some great offensive linemen, so it's definitely going to be a challenge for them being able to run the ball well these past couple (of) games," he said. "We'll be ready for the challenge."

The Longhorns had 27 carries for 29 yards in the first matchup against Georgia. The Bulldogs look to be just as stout against the run in the rematch. Longhorns running back Quentrevion Wisner led the way with 15 carries for 52 yards.

The Bulldogs will look to take the rematch against the Longhorns and head into the College Football Playoff feeling great about where they are at right now.
