As God looked down on his oasis which was Earth, he said, “I need a game of sport to bring the fans together on Saturdays in the fall; a game that evokes passion like no other in the human endeavor."

So, God gave us College Football.

God said, “I need a reason for the fans to get up early on any given Saturday, most times before the sun rises, and load up the family car with an abundance of food and drink and prepare to rejoice with their favorite team in a ritual that lasts long after the sun goes down.”

So, God gave us College Football.

God said, “I need a game where the players are strong enough to knock defenders to the ground with ease, while gentle enough to seek out his mother in the crowd and cry in her arms after scoring the game-winning points."

So, God gave us College Football.

God said “I need a game in which someone practices the same way he plays. I need a game where the players will play through pain, and if they can’t, have the will and fortitude to come back next season stronger and hungrier."

So, God gave us College Football.

God said, "I need a game where the players can run like a deer, hit with such force that it breaks their headgear, and are humble enough to shine the spotlight on their teammates in the thrill of victory.”

So, God gave us College Football.

God said, “I need a game where the players will attend a full day’s teachings and then end that day with a 2-hour rehearsal for the big game to come; someone who can keep a group of warriors together within the bounds of brotherhood; cheer and shout encouragement to his brother on his left and his right, and respond with a smile on his face and tears in his eyes when a young fan looks at him and says that he wants to “do what his hero does.”

So, God gave us College Football.

God said, “I need a game where these warriors will fight to become champions, they will fight for glory, they will fight for the fans that cheer for them in battle; a game where they will fear no evil in Death Valley, they will Fight On, they will cry out War Eagle and Whoo Pig Sooey, they will climb to Rocky Top, and where the Tide will roll.”

So, God gave us College Football.
