With the Big 12 Conference Media Days kicking off this week, one question on everyone’s mind is the future of Oklahoma State’s star running back Ollie Gordon II. This offseason, the Cowboys faced a difficult situation when Gordon was arrested for a DUI. Despite this, Oklahoma State brought Gordon to represent the team at Media Days in Las Vegas.

Gordon is one of the most captivating players in all of college football. Last season, the Cowboys’ RB had a terrific campaign, with 21 touchdowns, 285 carries and 1,732 yards. With the Big 12 welcoming multiple schools and the Cowboys gaining new foes, OSU hopes to have Gordon around.

Mike Gundy Affirms Ollie Gordon II Will Play

Situations like this are not easy to navigate. Recently, Gordon took to social media to apologize to his family, fans and the program. “I am deeply sorry for the actions that led to my arrest on June 30,” Gordon said. “Regardless of the outcome of this pending investigation, I did not uphold the values of the OSU football program,” he added.

Accountability plays a major role in this case, as coach Gundy told ESPN that Gordon’s presence at Media Days was a form of holding him to answer for his actions. “He’s going to play,” Gundy told ESPN. He says OSU will look at punishment in-house for Gordon’s conduct, but he will not miss any games.

Ollie Gordon II Looks Ahead

Gordon hopes to work past and learn from his mistakes while focusing on the future. OSU is one of the most talked-about teams in the Big 12 this offseason, as they look to become king of the hill in a wide-open conference. Per Vegas Insider, OSU has the third-best odds of winning the Big 12 Championship behind Utah and Kansas State. If Gordon were suspended, those odds would likely grow longer. Indeed, Gordon was the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year for 2023 and a unanimous first-team All-American.

Gordon has a future once his college days are over. He is ranked as the best RB prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft. With the season on the horizon, Gordon looks to improve and excel on and off the field.
