Jam Griffin Joins The Rebels

Updated: Aug 14, 2023

After graduating from Oregon State University, Jam Griffin decided to transfer away from the Beavers.

Last season Griffin was the number 3 running back on the roster but still saw plenty of playing time.

In the 2022 season, he played in 12 games and racked up 488 yards on 86 carries with 4 touchdowns. His best game of the season came against USC but the Beavers could not complete the upset as they went down to the Trojans 17-14.

On August 4th, 2023, Jamious Giffin made his commitment to Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels. With an already elite starting running back in Quinshon Judkins, along with an experienced Ulysses Bentley IV, the Rebels were far from desperate for running back help. However, the addition of Giffin helps give the Rebels one of the most formidable backfields in the SEC.

Last season Ole Miss had the heavy hitting 1-2 punch of Judkins and Evans. Evans leaves for a spot on the Los Angeles Rams roster, after being selected with the 215th pick in the 6th round of the NFL Draft. The Rebels offense is hoping to reload at the RB position instead of having to rebuild it. Could this trio lead to an even stronger season in 2023? With the addition of Griffin, Ole Miss now has three very talented running backs, along with quarterback Jaxson Dart, who was the third leading rusher in 2022, expect the rushing statistics to remain very favorable for the Rebels in 2023.

As for Griffin himself, expect him to be featured prominently in the number two role this season, with a battle for the top spot in 2024. It'll be tough to overtake Judkins at number one, until he leaves for the NFL draft. Griffin will have his chances though and must be ready in case of injury to be the feature back in Oxford.
