Turning Point: Ole Miss
There were not many things that could be pinpointed as a turning point for the Rebels in this one as it was a blowout. But there was one point in the second half where things turned.
The Eagles opened the second half of this game with an interception, and the Rebels took full advantage of it. They marched right down the field in a 9-play, 40-yard drive to extend the lead to 31-7. Running back JJ Pegues scored a touchdown.
The Eagles' next drive went three-and-out with just 6 yards of offense. Georgia Southern punted the ball back to Ole Miss. And the Rebels took advantage again, going 6 plays in 70 yards to extend the lead to 38-7.
Ole Miss poured it on with each drive as Dart and Harris had full control of the game and never looked out of rhythm.
What It Means
For the Rebels, Dart and Harris completely dominated this game and did not look out of sorts at all. They had to get this win and make sure it was not a trap game for them. Their next opponent will be the Kentucky Wildcats on Sept. 28 at noon EST.
For the Eagles, they came into this game figuring that they were not going to stand a chance against a Top 5 team on the road. They begin Sun Belt Conference play against the Georgia State Panthers on the road on Sept. 28 at 3:30 p.m. EST.
