Kyle McCord Commits To The Syracuse Orange

After a ton of rumors of Kyle McCord transferring to Nebraska, he shut it all down by announcing his commitment to Syracuse earlier this morning.

Coming out of High School McCord was the number 8 quarterback in the class of 2021, but never found a starting opportunity until CJ Stroud declared for the NFL draft in 2022. To start this season McCord had to battle it out with Devin Brown to see who would be the permanent starter, but eventually going into game four versus Notre Dame McCord was named the man.

Throughout this season McCord has thrown for 3,170 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions, with a 65 percent completion percentage over the length of the year. Now, was this strictly because of the additional receiving help from Biletnikoff award winner Marvin Harrison Jr., or Emeka Egbuka, Julian Flemming, and Cade Stover? or was this just a taste of what Kyle McCord can truly do?

Syracuse struggled all over the field but the quarterback is one of the most important players on the whole team. New Head Coach Fran Brown knows that and has begun the search for the next starter now that Garret Schrader has completed his senior season. WR Julian Flemming is currently uncommitted in the portal (as of Dec. 17th, 2023) but is expected to sign with Penn State. Could he follow his quarterback to New York?
