Lock 'Em In: College Football Best Bets for Week 3

Welcome to College Football Dawgs' Best Bets, where each week I will give you my best bets for college football and the NFL.

We had a successful Week 2 in College Football, going 3-2 (+0.70 units).

A few quick things before we get into the plays for this week. All bets will be to win 1 unit unless otherwise noted. Always practice bankroll management, and be sure to shop around for the best lines and prices on football betting apps. There is no such thing as a lock so be on the lookout for any “Lock of the Century” bettors.

Play 'em or fade 'em. Let's go.

College YTD: 6-4 (+1.40 units)

Best Bet No. 1: Kansas State Wildcats -7 (-110)

The No. 14 Kansas State Wildcats will host No. 20 Arizona Wildcats at 8 p.m. EST for some Friday Night Lights action on Sept. 13 in Manhattan, Kan.

Kansas State checks a lot of boxes for me. The model and power rankings I like to look at both have K-State as double-digit favorites and we're only having to lay 7 here. Kansas State has the best favorite value ranking on the week per the Makinen bettor rankings. There are numerous strong betting trends siding with Kansas State. Despite all those positives, the betting public is siding with Arizona across the board. Something I was somewhat surprised to see.

I’ll side with the numbers and go Kansas State – 7.   

Best Bet No. 2:  Florida Gators +3.5 (-110)

The Texas A&M Aggies will travel to The Swamp, to take on the Florida Gators at 3:30 p.m. EST on Sept. 14. Both teams are coming off convincing victories last week.

The Aggies will go on the road for the first time this season, while the Gators are playing their third home game in a row. As of this writing, the DraftKings Sportsbook betting splits have the Aggies receiving 61 percent of the bets. About 55 percent of the money is on the Gators, though. The line movement would indicate the more respected money is on Florida as many larger shops have moved this line down to 3. There are a few trends favoring the Gators and they have a much higher stability score than the Aggies do.

I’ll follow the money on this one and take the home dog in the Gators at +3.5.

Best Bet No. 3: Kennesaw State Owls +18.5 (-110)

The Kennesaw State Owls will travel to San Jose to take on the San Jose Spartans at 7 p.m. EST on Sept. 14.

Best Bet No. 4: South Carolina Gamecocks +6 (-110)

South Carolina will play host to No. 16 LSU Tigers at noon EST on Sept. 14 at Williams-Brice Stadium.
