Middle Tennessee is expected to hire former Vanderbilt Head Coach, Derek Mason, to replace Rick Stockstill as head coach.

Mason was last a head coach between 2014-2020 at Vanderbilt and was defensive coordinator for Auburn in 2021 and for Oklahoma State in 2022. He spent this season working for ESPN as a college football analyst.

Mason has a 27-55 record as the head coach at Vanderbilt where he never had a winning season but did make two bowl appearances.

Mason will replace Rick Stockstill, who was fired after going 4-8 on the year. Stockstill was the Blue Raiders head coach for eighteen seasons and finished with a 113-111 record and 10 bowl appearances.

Middle Tennessee has scheduled a press conference for tomorrow morning (Dec. 6th) at 9 CT to make the announcement.
