No.11 Alabama (7-2, 4-2 Southeastern Conference) faced off against No. 15 LSU (6-3, 3-2) in a night game on Nov. 9 in Baton Rouge, La, at Tiger Stadium. Alabama rode a strong defensive performance and rushing attack to a 42-13 victory. Alabama scored on the first possession of the game and maintained the lead throughout the contest.

Alabama at LSU

Alabama started the game strong, scoring on the first drive and holding LSU to 3 points in their ensuing possession. The LSU Tigers didn't have an answer to Jalen MIlroe's rushing attack. Milroe accounted for 4 touchdowns and 185 yards on the ground. Richard Young and Alabama's second string were able to score a late touchdown in the fourth to go ahead 42-6. The Tigers scored the following possession to make the final score 42-13 in favor of Alabama.

Turning Point

Nearing the end if the first of the first half, LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier lost a fumble at his own 32-yard line.

The turnover led to 7 points for the Crimson Tide giving them a 21-6 lead over the Tigers. The lead would prove to be insurmountable.

What It Means

Alabama keeps their College Football Playoff hopes alive with the win. With Mercer (9-1), Oklahoma (5-5,1-5) and Auburn (3-6, 1-5) left on the schedule, the Crimson Tide have a good chance to win out and reach the CFP. Kalen DeBoer proved he can win a big SEC game on the road.

LSU, with the loss, is virtually eliminated from playoff contention and Tiger fans are left wondering if coach Brian Kelly is the man that can win a title in Baton Rouge. The Tigers have Florida (4-5, 2-4) , Vanderbilt (6-4, 3-3) and Oklahoma left on the schedule.
