Notre Dame Looks to Keep Foot on Gas Against Georgia Tech

The No. 12 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (5-1, Independents) are looking to keep it rolling as they travel to face the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (5-2, 3-2 Atlantic Coast Conference). The Fighting Irish defeated the Stanford Cardinal (2-4, 1-2) 49-7 in Week 7. The Yellow Jackets defeated the North Carolina Tar Heels (3-4, 0-3) 41-34 in Week 7. The Fighting Irish and Yellow Jackets will face off on Oct. 19 at 3:30 p.m. EST at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga.

The Fighting Irish will look to improve their road record against the Yellow Jackets to 14-2-1 with a victory in Week 8.

Key Players: Notre Dame

Quarterback Riley Leonard, Wide Receiver Beaux Collins

Leonard had a great game against the Cardinal. He completed 16-of-22 passes for 229 yards and 3 touchdowns and he also ran the ball 6 times for 31 yards and another TD.


Collins led the Fighting Irish in receiving against the Cardinal. He had 4 catches for 85 yards, with his longest catch being for 53 yards.


Defensive Lineman Howard Cross, Defensive Lineman Rylie Mills

Cross was the best player on defense for the Fighting Irish against the Cardinal. He tallied 4 tackles and 2 of them went for sacks. He is a mainstay along the Fighting Irish defensive line.


Mills also had a decent game for the Fighting Irish's defense. Mills had 2 tackles, assisted on 2 more tackles, and tallied a sack.



Key Players: Georgia Tech

Running Back Jamal Haynes, Quarterback Haynes King

Haynes had an amazing game against the Tar Heels. He carried the ball 19 times for 170 yards and 2 touchdowns. His second TD was key because it happened to be the game-winning one and was a 68-yard score.


King has been quite the story this year for the Yellow Jackets' offense. Against the Tar Heels, he completed 11-of-22 passes for 127 yards and carried the ball 11 times for 107 yards and 2 touchdowns. He is quite the dual-threat offensive player.



Linebacker Kyle Efford, Linebacker Trenilyas Tatum

Efford is one of the big mainstays on the Yellow Jackets' defense and proved it against the Tar Heels. He had 9 tackles to go along with assisting on one more tackle.


Tatum also had a fine day. He had 4 tackles to go along with assisting on two more tackles and picking up 0.5 sacks.



Trends to Watch

The Yellow Jackets only need one more win to become bowl-eligible in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2013 and 2014.


The Fighting Irish look to pick up their first-ever win at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
