Over the past two seasons, the Ohio University Bobcats have been a major player in the Mid-American Conference. Coming off back-to-back 10-win seasons the Bobcats have a lot of momentum but it will be no easy task to keep it rolling. The Bobcats spent the beginning of the offseason on the bad end of the transfer portal, losing key players such as QB Kurtis Rourke, LB Keye Thompson, DL Tristan Cox, TE Alec Burton, and many others. Despite having 10 of their regular season contributors sit out for their Myrtle Beach Bowl appearance they managed to pull out a 41-21 win over Georgia Southern, so there is still hope for the Bobcats.

can the Bobcats recover?

The Bobcats have done well filling in the empty spots on their roster, adding RB Anthony Tyus III, IOL Tigana Cisse, and TE Beau Blankenship. The big question is at quarterback for Ohio. After losing their starting quarterback to the transfer portal, former Oklahoma State QB Gunnar Gundy committed. However, he has since re-entered the transfer portal and is still undecided. As it sits right now the quarterback battle will be between redshirt sophomore Callum Wither and graduate student C.J. Harris.

what can we expect from the Ohio Bobcats this season?

Despite all the transfer portal moves I think Ohio could still be a contender for the MAC, their four toughest games are all on the road, so that will not be easy, but if they can pull out a win against Toledo and Miami they will punch their ticket for Ford Field. They have been able to fill in a lot of the missing spots on the depth chart to where they may not need the quarterback to be the top contributor. My prediction is Ohio qualifies for a bowl game for the third year in a row.
