Brady Edmunds, a 2027 five-star quarterback, announced his commitment to Ohio State on Dec. 2. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound Hunting Beach High School QB threw for 3,222 yards this season as a sophomore. He also finished with 36 passing TDs and only 9 interceptions.

The No. 2 QB of his class is now the second player in the Buckeyes' 2027 class, joining five-star wide receiver Jamier Brown.

Brady Edmunds' Play

The young QB has prototypical size for his position already despite only being halfway through his high school career. He appears to be the textbook pro-style QB that head coach Ryan Day has loved in the past with players such as CJ Stroud, Dwayne Haskins and Justin Fields. The preference of Day and the Buckeyes is clearly a field general with a strong arm capable of making every throw on the field. Even as a young teenager, Edmunds has shown an ability to do those things.

He has natural touch on throws down the field and shows solid velocity on short-to-intermediate throws. Edmunds has also shown an ability to extend plays and use his legs to pick up important yards. 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Greg Biggins has compared him to Los Angeles Chargers star QB Justin Herbert. That's a tough standard to live up to, but Edmunds has shown a surplus of potential.

How Does Edmunds Fit in at Ohio State?

Ohio State is rather loaded for the future at the QB position. Five-star 2024 standout Julian Sayin is on the roster now finishing up his freshman season. In-state recruit Tavien St. Clair is another five-star QB who will be joining the Buckeyes in 2025. With the current timeline and assuming each of those two would leave for the NFL after three seasons, Edmunds could be lined up to start in his second year in 2028. The Buckeyes currently have no commits for 2026 at QB and may not seek out many, if any, top players at the position with how the room is currently shaping out.

Edmunds will have steep competition when he steps onto campus regardless of how the classes look now. Ohio State is a top destination for young QBs with Day at the helm and the constant output of NFL-ready wide receivers from coach Brian Hartline. Edmunds will still surely find himself with ample opportunity given how incredibly talented and productive he has already been in his young career.
