Julie Venables, the wife of Oklahoma Sooners football coach Brent Venables is cancer-free, the coach announced today. Julie was diagnosed with breast cancer in June of 2023 and has undergone treatments to battle the disease which includes two surgeries, one in August and another in November.
The family found out about a month ago that Julie is cancer-free and shared the good news today at Venables' Spring press conference. “Several weeks ago, maybe a month or so ago,” Venables said at the media session, “we were able to just get good news. Praise Jesus that she’s cancer-free.”
The Oklahoman was the first to report the news. “I’m doing routine blood screenings, but right now there’s zero cancer,” Julie told reporters from the publication.
Brent and Julie were married in 1997. The couple has four children, sons Jake and Tyler and daughters Laney and Addie.
