Lane Kiffin and No. 6 Ole Miss (2-0) won in blowout fashion for the second week in a row, beating Middle Tennessee State (1-1) by a score of 52-3 on Sept. 7. It was a beautiful day in Oxford, Miss., as the Rebels put on another impressive offensive performance. The game was never in question for the Rebels who dominated on both sides of the ball.

Game Summary

Ole Miss had to settle for a field goal on its first drive but after that, the offense was unstoppable. Quarterback Jaxson Dart had an outstanding performance completing 93 percent of his passes for 377 yards and 1 touchdown. Dart completed his first 24 passes, setting both Southeastern Conference and school records. Rebels' running back Henry Parrish also had a big day rushing for 165 yards on 14 carries and scoring 4 touchdowns.

The Rebels defense also had a good showing, only allowing MTSU to score 3 points. The Ole Miss defense allowed 279 total yards with 251 yards coming through the air. The Rebels held the Blue Raiders to 28 rushing yards, an impressive feat even against lesser competition.

This game was completely dominated by Ole Miss who controlled it from the very start.

Turning Point

To start the game Ole Miss ended an 8-play drive with a field goal. Not satisfied with field goals, the Rebels would score touchdowns on their next seven drives. Once the Rebels stepped on the gas, they didn't let off releasing an offensive onslaught against the Blue Raiders.

What it Means for Ole Miss

The Rebels have looked dominant in their last two matchups against lesser opponents. Next week they travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. to face off against Wake Forest. The Rebels, facing their first Power Four opponent of the season, need to avoid complacency and continue to play their brand of ball. The Rebels will look to prove they can maintain their success against better competition in the coming weeks.

What it Means for MTSU

For the MTSU Blue Raiders, this was a meaningful learning experience for the team and new coaching staff. The Raiders were not expected to win this game and have their whole season ahead of them. The Raiders still have everything to play for as they are still in contention to win Conference USA. The Raiders play Western Kentucky on Sept. 14.
