All eyes were on the Ducks this Friday as fans anticipated five-star Jordon Davison's commitment. However, to the fans' surprise, defensive lineman Josiah Sharma also announced his commitment to Oregon. "They got a really good culture over there," Sharma told On3 after the announcement. He is a 6-foot-5, 320-pound interior lineman from Sacramento, Calif. who brings considerable force to the trenches for the Ducks.

Oregon came into Friday with the No. 8 overall 2025 recruiting class in the nation according to On3, but following the two commitments made today, they will undoubtedly make a push for the top five. Sharma may have credited the culture, but defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi is likely the dark horse who deserves credit here.

About Josiah Sharma

Sharma is an impressive two-way player from Northern California. At the prep level, he plays on both the offensive and defensive lines. The Ducks are interested in him primarily as a defensive lineman. He brings serious size to the table, and his stock skyrocketed after his workout at the National Preps Camp in Las Vegas. With a wingspan of 79 inches during his junior season in high school, he projects to become even bigger. He will be a threat to deflect passes, but that isn't even the strong suit of his game.

Sharma exhibits elite ability as a straight-line rusher at the nose tackle position and has the strength to push back double teams. He will need to work on his pass-rush moves, but for now, he is already equipped to be a promising nose tackle. Sharma is projected to be a Power Four starter. Sharma is ranked as a top 85 overall recruit nationally, and the No. 7 DL according to On3.

Impact on Oregon

Landing Sharma and Davison gives Oregon's recruiting class quite the boost. After being ranked No. 8 overall per On3, the back-to-back commitments push them to No. 6 in the nation.

Sharma adds talent to the trenches for the Ducks and coach Lupoi. Oregon already has four-star DL Matthew Johnson as a pledged commit for 2025, so Sharma's commitment marks the second highly-coveted defensive lineman to join the flock.

Outside of the defensive line, the Oregon defense as a whole is set up for success going forward. There are still commitments to be made, such as five-star safety Trey McNutt, who was recently tagged by On3 as another likely commit for the Ducks.

The Ducks have Brandon Finney, Matthew Johnson, and now Sharma locked in for 2025. The future is bright in Eugene, or as head coach Dan Lanning says" The grass is damn green in Eugene".
