The Pitt Panthers landed a four-star commitment to add to their 2025 recruiting class. As coach Pat Narduzi and his staff look to improve the Panthers, fortifying the trenches is an essential step. The team received a commitment from tackle prospect Jordan Fields to help with just that.
Who Is Jordan Fields?
At 6-foot-5 and 265 pounds, Fields is an imposing force at offensive tackle. A product of North Shore High in Houston, Fields chose Pittsburgh over Houston, Kansas and Toledo. He shows solid footwork to finish the initial block and move on to the second level.
He has solid football instincts and shows good use of hands to engage defenders with a solid punch to win at the all-important line of scrimmage. He plays with a high motor and shows a good ability to keep his feet moving when engaging defenders to drive them away from the ball. Although a bit underweight for an offensive tackle, there is a high ceiling with development and the skills he already has.
He also participated in track and field in high school and registered 49-8 1/2 in the shot put. With a natural agility and violent hands in addition to a solid football IQ,, Fields has a lot of tools that coaches look for to build and improve the offensive lines. He is rated as the 16th-best offensive tackle prospect in the class per On3.com. He's got a solid foundation to contribute in pass protection and help to establish running lanes for the Panthers.
What Securing Fields Does for Pitt
Fields is a building block for the Pitt offensive line. Listed as a tackle, he could move to the interior and play guard as he develops and fills out his frame.
Offensive line coach Jeremy Darveau has a quality building block to build one of the most important and pivotal areas on the football field. Fields is the 23rd recruit for Narduzzi and his staff in the 2025 class and the ninth on the offense. With his commitment, the Panthers move up to No. 9 in the Atlantic Coast Conference and up to 43rd in the nation in recruiting for 2025.
The Panthers have a high-upside and versatile player in Fields with the potential to develop as an offensive tackle in their program or to move inside and develop into a quality guard. Narduzzi and his staff are in the process of building the program up for the Panthers to compete in the ACC and college football. For Pitt, securing the services of Fields will go a long way.
