What's At Stake?

Both teams head into this matchup looking for a signature win to add to their 2023 resume. Tulane looks to return to New Year's Six Bowl this year and a win this weekend sets them down that path and could even set them up for playoff contention if they were to win out. Ole Miss, on the other hand, looks to establish an identity on defense with first-year defensive coordinator Pete Golding to match their high-powered offense in order to become a more complete team capable of competing at the highest level.

Key Players - Tulane

DL Patrick Jenkins - Tulane

Key Players - Ole Miss

Key Matchups:

Whichever team can slow down the opposing defense the most will have the edge in this matchup. Both teams enter this contest with high-powered offenses and new defensive coordinators. It will be intriguing to see which defense performs better against these two offenses that are capable of putting up points in bunches.

Prediction:

Both of these teams know how to put up points and that's exactly what they're going to do. While this certainly will be an offense-oriented game the key will be defense. The team with the defense that does the better job slowing down the opposing offense will come out victorious and that team is Tulane. Ole Miss will be the first SEC team to play at Yulman Stadium and they will also be the first SEC team to lose there. Tulane wins at home by a score of 41-38.
