BROADCAST INFORMATION

WHAT'S AT STAKE?

The Texas Longhorns are huge favorites in this matchup. They are also ranked number 11 in the AP Poll. Rice is coming off a 5-7 season and a bowl loss against Southern Miss.

KEY PLAYERS

QB Quinn Ewers- Texas

LB Jaylan Ford- Texas

QB TJ Daniels-Rice

WR Luke McCaffrey- Rice

KEY MATCHUPS

The Texas Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers will be up against Rice's stingy defense that only allowed 18.8 points per game in 2022.

Rice's Luke McCaffrey, the younger brother to the 49ers' Christian McCaffrey will be visiting Royal-Memorial Stadium with 100k screaming Longhorn supporters, and the 17th-ranked defense in all of college football.

PREDICTION

With the national spotlight on Texas this season, having recruited QB Arch Manning, and on the cusp of joining the SEC next season I can see this game as a statement game. Texas will come out very strong against the Owls and wallop their opponents by 40+. Rice on paper is not a team to sneeze at, but they don't seem to have the type of depth that the Horns have at their disposal. Final score prediction, Texas 56 -Rice13
