Primetime From Athens: Georgia Hosts Tennessee

Head coach Kirby Smart and the No. 12 Georgia Bulldogs (7-2, 5-2 Southeastern Conference) look to avenge their recent loss to the No. 11 Ole Miss Rebels (8-2, 4-2) against the No. 8 Tennessee Volunteers (8-1, 5-1) in Week 12. The Volunteers defeated the Mississippi State Bulldogs (2-8, 0-6) 33-14 in Week 11. The Bulldogs and Volunteers will face off at 7:30 p.m. EST on Nov. 16 at Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga.



What's at Stake?

The Volunteers look to improve to 27-2 overall in 29 straight games in the Josh Heupel era when they produce 200 rushing yards with a win over the Bulldogs.


The Bulldogs look to improve to 29-23-2 overall against the Volunteers with a victory.


Key Players: Georgia

WR Dominic Lovett, S Malaki Starks

Lovett has been one of quarterback Carson Beck's favorite targets in the Bulldogs' offense and was again in the loss to the Rebels. Lovett had 4 catches for 41 yards with his longest reception being for 20 yards.


Starks is one of those players that the Bulldogs really rely on in their secondary. He had a nice game against the Rebels as well. Starks finished with 6 tackles, 4 of them being solo tackles, and had 1 tackle for loss.



Key Players: Tennessee

RB Dylan Sampson, DE James Pearce Jr.

Sampson is one of those players that really works his tail off game in and game out and it was much of the same for him in the win over the Bulldogs. Sampson finished with 30 carries for 149 yards and a TD.



Pearce Jr. is one of those players that knows how to do his job and do it well. In the victory over the Bulldogs, he finished with 4 tackles, with 1 going for a sack and 1 being a tackle for loss. He is heavily relied upon in the Volunteers' defense.



Trends to Watch

The Bulldogs look to improve to 8-1 against the Volunteers since 2016.


Volunteers' center Cooper Mays looks to make it 24 straight games without allowing a sack.
