Mizzou's loss is UCF's gain.

On July 4, four-star wide receiver Jayvan Boggs committed to play for Eliah Drinkwitz's Missouri Tigers. However, just over a month later, Boggs flipped his commitment. The Cocoa, Fla., native decided to stay close to home, pledging to Gus Malzahn's UCF Knights.

This is not Boggs' first de-commitment. Before committing to Mizzou, he committed to Ohio State. He was pledged to the Buckeyes from Oct. 9, 2023, until March 26. Boggs' journey is emblematic of the burgeoning trend of de-commitments.

Boggs, UCF

Rivals rates Boggs the No. 13 WR in the 2025 cycle and the No. 67 overall prospect in the class. He is 6-foot-1 and weighs 200 pounds. In the words of 247Sports, Boggs "[d]isplays suddenness as a route runner and ... set[s] defensive backs up with dynamic cuts and slick head fakes." He is a "sure-handed" receiver. At the prep level, defensive backs struggle to tackle him. He projects as a multi-year Power Four starter.

As a high school sophomore, Boggs caught 41 passes for 722 yards and 6 touchdowns. He then broke out in his junior year, leading his team to a state championship with 93 pass receptions for 1,493 yards and 24 TDs.

With Boggs' commitment, UCF's 2025 class moved up to the No. 24 position nationally and No. 1 in the Big 12 Conference, per On3's industry comparison. Boggs is UCF's sixth four-star pledge for 2025.

Impact on Mizzou

Despite Boggs' departure, Mizzou's wide receiver room remains one of the strongest in the nation. Led by Luther Burden III, widely regarded as the best receiver in the nation in 2024, the Tigers also feature returning starters Theo Wease Jr. and Mookie Cooper. Last year, Wease hauled in 49 receptions for 682 yards and 6 touchdowns. Cooper began his career at Ohio State and transferred to Missouri in 2021. Burden and Wease were five-star recruits, while Cooper was rated a four-star prospect.

With Boggs' de-commitment, Mizzou's 2025 class drops down to the No. 16 position nationally and No. 9 in the Southeastern Conference. The class is highlighted by five-star quarterback Matt Zollers and four-star WR Donovan Olugbode.
