Coach Mike Norvell and Florida State bolstered their recruiting class with another big-time threat on the outside after a verbal commitment from Malik Clark.
Clark is a 6-foot-3, 185-pound wide receiver out of Rock Hill (S.C.) High School. The Noles beat out South Carolina, North Carolina and North Carolina State, among others, as potential suitors for Clark. After securing the commitment of four-star Daylan McCutcheon out of Dallas earlier this month, Florida State wide receivers coach Ron Dugans is loading up on future talent in his receiving corps.
Seminoles Add Speed, Size
Norvell and Dugans are aware of how important it is to add elite athletes at the wideout position. Clark is a raw, unfinished product but has lethal speed and tremendous length. He runs sub-4.4 in the 40-yard dash and shows explosiveness with a 10-foot, 2-inch broad jump. Clark is rated right outside the Top 200 nationally in On3's Industry Rankings.
He is rated the 24th-best wide receiver in the country and second-best player in South Carolina. In his junior season at Rock Hill, Clark had 35 receptions for 679 yards and 7 touchdowns.
In the Wide Receiver Room
In addition to McCutcheon and Clark, Florida State landed a commitment from Milton, Ga., native WR CJ Wiley in June. Wiley is a four-star prospect and Top-100 national player, per On3. These three commitments, along with 2024 blue-chip signees Lawayne McCoy and Elijah Moore, have the Seminoles set up for success in the WR room for the next several years. Add in five-star Hykeem Williams and Florida State has the ability to be explosive through the air on offense in 2025 and beyond.
Seminoles Recruiting
The Noles are now up to 13 commits in the Class of 2025, 11 of which are four- or five-star prospects. FSU currently has the second-best class in the ACC and the seventh-best nationally, per On3. Norvell has steadily climbed up in the rankings each year for high school recruiting while maintaining his dominance in the Transfer Portal.
Florida State added transfer wide receivers Malik Benson and Jalen Brown prior to spring practice from Alabama and LSU, respectively. Stay tuned to College Football Dawgs for more coverage of Florida State recruiting.
