Florida State Seminoles fans have been witnessing a resurgence under coach Mike Norvell. On June 25, Norvell and his staff continued to strike and landed a dynamic playmaker in wide receiver CJ Wiley. The 6-foot-4 wideout is a four-star prospect and is the No. 6-ranked wide receiver in his class according to On3.com.

Who Is CJ Wiley?

For the Seminoles, they landed the commitment from Wiley who chose Florida State over Georgia, Auburn and LSU. In Wiley, they land a wide receiver with solid physical tools and a large catch radius that could lead to being a go-to target in the red zone.

A product of Milton High School in Georgia, Wiley has already shown his athletic ability in track, where he ran the 100-meter in under 11 seconds, basketball and baseball. He's a solid route runner willing to work the middle of the field and catch in traffic. In 2023, Wiley finished his season with 68 receptions for 1,473 yards and 14 touchdowns. The term "YAC (yards after catch) monster" gets used extensively, but Wiley has the demonstrated ability to hit an extra gear and separate from defenders when he makes catches. In his junior season, he averaged 21.7 yards per reception.

Football Pedigree

Wiley's father, Chuck Wiley, was a two-time All-Southeastern Conference defensive at LSU and was drafted in the third round of the 1999 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers. He has also shown that he has a high ceiling. He's shown some great traits with ball-tracking ability on vertical routes as well as explosiveness in his route running and separation from defenders. He is a big-bodied receiver who shakes off contact and is capable of big plays when he gets the ball in his hands. Already speedy, Wiley will look to continue to grow as a playmaker when he brings his talents to Tallahassee and the Seminoles.

For the Seminoles, Wiley is the fifth four-star recruit in the 2025 class to commit to the Seminoles to this point in the recruiting cycle. The Seminoles beating out some SEC powers for the talented wide receiver speaks to the program that Norvell and his staff have been hard at work creating in Tallahassee.

Wiley is an exciting player to keep an eye on, he's got the tools to be a big-time player in college football and for the Florida State Seminoles as well as the willingness to put in the work.
