Stanford's Ayomanor Named to the Maxwell Award Watch List

Canadian-born Elic Ayomanor of the Stanford Cardinal is one of the top wide receivers in college football, and he was just recognized by being placed on the watch list for the prestigious Maxwell Award. The award is granted annually to the nation's best player. Ayomanor is 1 of 80 players named to the watch list.

About Elic Ayomanor

Ayomanor attended high school in Massachusetts, where he excelled in track and football. He set school and league records in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. He chose to attend Stanford after receiving scholarship offers from Cal, Notre Dame, Ole Miss and Tennessee.

He enrolled at Stanford in 2022 but was unable to play that year due to injury. As a redshirt freshman in 2023, he burst upon the scene. The 6-foot-2 wideout hauled in 62 receptions for 1,013 yards with 6 touchdowns.

Ayomanor also excels in the classroom. He was named to the Pac-12 Conference Academic Honor Roll. He was also named first-team Academic All-America.

He is an all-around asset to the Cardinal's football program. In the offseason, he played a key role in Stanford securing the commitment of four-star wide receiver JonAnthony Hall from Fishers, Ind. After committing to Stanford, Hall told reporters that Ayomanor made a profound impression on him during his recruitment. Noting his integrity and character, Hall stated that Ayomanor shares with him an emphasis on academics.

Maxwell Award Watch List

The Maxwell Football Club annually recognizes the best player in college football with the prestigious Maxwell Award. On July 29, the club released its 2024 award watch list. Named after College Football Hall of Fame inductee Robert "Tiny" Maxwell, the award was granted for the first time in 1937. Last year's winner of the award was Michael Penix Jr.

Placement on the Maxwell Award watch list is among a growing list of honors and recognition Ayomanor has recently received. In October 2023, he received Offensive Player of the Week honors from the College Football Network. He has also been named to the Biletnikoff watch list.
