Every year, we hear the same thing: “Texas is Back." This year, they are. They lost a load of talent to the 2023 NFL Draft, the most notable being Bijan Robinson. They do, however, have some stars returning. On the offensive side of the ball, this Longhorn team looks dangerous. Quinn Ewers is undoubtedly a top QB in the Big 12. He appeared in 10 games last year, totaling 2,177 passing yards and 15 touchdowns.
With the loss of Bijan Robinson look for Quinn Ewers to have the opportunity to air the ball out more. Texas also returns their leading receiver, Xavier Worthy. Worthy went for 760 yards last season. Look for him to crack that 1000-yard seal this season. It also helps that this high-powered offense has an easier schedule.
Besides Alabama, this Longhorn team only has to worry about a declining Oklahoma team. They also take on TCU, who lost most of their talent to the 2023 NFL Draft as well. If I was a betting man, I’d throw my money on Texas being the BIG 12 champs.
Onto the defense, Texas did a great job bringing in some key recruits who can make an immediate impact. Anthony Hill is a 5-star linebacker out of Denton, Texas. Ranked number 18 in his class and number 2 in his position. Texas also brought in Malik Muhammed and Derek Williams. Both 4 stars, playing in this Texas secondary. Texas is also returning star linebacker, Jaylan Ford. Ford led the team with 119 tackles and 4 interceptions. Ford paired with Hill is a deadly duo that not a single team is going to want to face.
All in all, I can confidently say that Texas is back! Watch for this team to not only win the BIG 12 but also make a run at the College Football Playoffs. The high-powered offense, paired with a tough defense is going to be fun to watch. Remember these 3 words for fall, “Texas is Back”.
This is an article? It’s literally 4 paragraphs and mentions 6 players, 3 of which are freshmen that won’t play this year. That means Texas is back? At least make a case for a claim like that. Not say “Ewers has Worthy and there’s two linebackers that won’t play together this year.”
