In the span of a few moments on Nov. 17, one five-star quarterback de-committed from the USC Trojans (5-5, 3-5 Big Ten Conference) and another five-star QB committed to the program.
First, Julian Lewis from Carrollton, Ga., who was committed to the Trojans since August 2023, de-committed. Moments later, Californian Husan Longstreet flipped his commitment from Texas A&M to USC.
Volatile Trojans QB Room
In a highly active week in the USC quarterback room, Jayden Maiava replaced Miller Moss as the starting QB for the Trojans and, on Nov. 16, completed 25 of 35 passes for 259 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead the team to a 28-20 victory over the Nebraska Cornhuskers (5-5, 2-5).
The following day, the Trojans lost a commitment from a five-star QB in the 2025 cycle (Lewis) but, moments later, flipped a commitment from another (Longstreet).
Highly Rated Prospects
Lewis and Longstreet are both rated near the top of the 2025 recruiting class. ESPN rates Lewis as the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2025 class. While 247Sports rates Lewis as the No. 9 quarterback in the class, it rates Longstreet as the No. 4 QB in the 2025 cycle.
Destinations for Lewis
While Lewis did not announce any new commitment after de-committing from USC, he is rumored to be headed for either his native Georgia or Colorado, per Athlon Sports.
Longstreet Bio
Longstreet's elder brother, Kevin, plays defensive back for Texas A&M. In 2024—his freshman season—he has played primarily on special teams.
The younger Longstreet is an athletic dual-threat QB. As a sophomore at Inglewood High School, he racked up impressive stats while leading his team to a 13-1 record and an appearance in the divisional championship game. He threw for 3,491 yards and 40 TDs, with only 7 interceptions. For his junior season, he transferred to Centennial High School, where he threw for 3,013 yards and 24 TDs and rushed for 645 yards and 7 more TDs.
In the words of 247Sports, he "has one of the strongest arms out West and one of the quicker releases to go with it. He generates a ton of velocity with little effort and is able to easily throw from different arm angles and is equally comfortable rolling out and throwing right or left. He has big hands and spins the football as consistently as anyone."
USC's 2025 Recruiting Class
Longstreet is the highest-rated prospect in USC's 2025 class, which is rated No. 13 nationally. He has already inked an NIL deal valued at $830,000. He joins five-star wide receiver Jerome Myles and 14 four-star pledges in the Trojans' solid 2025 recruiting class.
