WHAT'S AT STAKE?

The Hoosiers are currently 1-1 with their first win coming against Indiana State last week with of score of 41-7, and their first loss of the season coming to the #8 Ohio State in the first contest of the season. The Hoosiers are looking to begin a winning streak and get back into at least the middle of the pack in the juiced-up Big Ten East. The Cardinals on the other hand look very promising with a hot 2-0 start to the 2023 season. With wins coming against fellow ACC school Georgia Tech and last weekend against Murray State. This game is in Indianapolis, so there will probably be more Hoosier Faithfuls in the stands, but will that be enough to rattle the mighty Louisville squad?

KEY PLAYERS - University of Indiana

  • QB - Tayven Jackson

  • LB - Aaron Casey

KEY PLAYERS - University of LOUISVILLE

  • QB - Jake Plummer

  • RB - Jawhar Jordan

KEY MATCHUPS

The Hoosier offense has been rather slow to the start of the season, with the QB play only having a total of 426 yards with no TDs under their belts yet. But then again they have played a top ten team to start the season. Last week should have been more of a touchdown opportunity for the gunslingers, but now is the time to shine right? The defense has been steady though, with senior linebacker racking up 18 tackles already on the season as they blanked out Murray State last week. The Cardinals Jake Plummer already has more passing yards than the QB tandem on the opposite end with 494 yards and 4 touchdowns. He is great, but also tends to turn the ball over quite a bit with 3 interceptions so far. The running game has been prosperous with Jawhar Jordan with 14 carries for 231 yards and 3 touchdowns averaging 16.5 yards per carry.

PREDICTION

The over/under is currently at 50.5 points and I'm going to have to go with the over. From what has been recorded statistically, and from the lack of offensive firepower on the Indiana side, I have a feeling that if the Cardinals go into this game with a full head of steam, this game will be over right before it starts. The Indiana defense was impressive against #8 Ohio State in the first game this year, but the Buckeyes are still trying to figure themselves out. The Cardinals came out to begin their season with a conference opponent, and that's always difficult no matter the opponent. I'm going with Louisville with a score of 56-24.
