Fleet-footed four-star wide receiver Tanook Hines from Houston announced his commitment to the USC Trojans on July 15. He is rated the nation's No. 35 receiver by 247Sports. Hines is the third four-star to join the Trojans' WR room in the 2025 recruiting cycle.
With the addition of Hines, USC's 2025 class is rated by On3 Sports No. 18 overall and No. 5 in the Big Ten Conference behind Ohio State, Oregon, Michigan and Penn State.
Notre Dame had long been considered the frontrunner to secure Hines' commitment. Beating out the Fighting Irish to land the pledge of this coveted recruit is sweet for USC fans who count Notre Dame as a bitter rival. In the end, Hines chose USC over 41 other leading programs that extended offers to him.
About Tanook Hines
Hines is 6-foot-1 and weighs 185 pounds.
In 18 games, spanning his sophomore and junior years, Hines accumulated 1,362 all-purpose yards. Playing a variety of different positions, he has scored 12 touchdowns as a wideout, rusher and return specialist.
Hines is a star track athlete. He has received numerous statewide awards in high school sprinting events in Texas. On the gridiron, he easily runs past defenders at the prep level. He also makes skillful adjustments to catch passes and regularly breaks tackles after the catch.
Hines said USC coach Lincoln Riley and wide receivers coach Dennis Simmons were particularly influential in his decision to commit to USC. He also said that the high-quality business curriculum offered at USC contributed to his decision.
USC's WR Room
USC now has 14 pledges in its 2025 class. One of those 14 is a five-star (Julian Lewis) and Hines is the seventh four-star. Hines joins four-star WRs Corey Simms and Romero Ison. While Simms is a larger receiver, Hines and Ison bring track speed to the table.
The Trojans are currently loaded at wide receiver with a trio of sophomores leading the way—Zachariah Branch, Duce Robinson and Ja'Kobi Lane. With Hines and the other talented receivers in the 2025 class, USC's passing attack will be well-fortified for years to come.
