Each week, the Maxwell Football Club highlights the top players in college football that went above and beyond to lead their team to victory. The Maxwell Player of the Week award is given to the top offensive player, and the Bednarik Player of the Week award is given to the top defensive player.

Here are the performances that stood out above the rest in Week 7.

Maxwell Player of the Week

TE Tyler Warren, Penn State

In an offense that has been prone to slow starts and lethargic ball movement, Warren has been one of the few bright spots. With several key pass catchers struggling early on in the year, Warren's leadership and veteran experience has been a crucial part of the No. 3 Nittany Lions' (6-0, 3-0 Big Ten Conference) undefeated season. His performance on Oct. 12 against the USC Trojans (3-3, 1-3) elevated his season from great to historic.

Warren carried the Penn State offense throughout the 33-30 overtime win, catching 17 passes for an unfathomable 224 yards and 1 touchdown. His 17 receptions tied the FBS single-game record for tight ends, and his 224 receiving yards were the most ever from a Big Ten tight end.

His record-breaking day was highlighted by a 32-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Drew Allar at the start of the third quarter. Penn State had been trailing 20-6 at halftime and had struggled to establish any momentum on offense. The Nittany Lions offense finally started clicking at the start of the second half, but they were still searching for their first touchdown of the day. Warren capped off the quick drive with an acrobatic catch in the end zone over a Trojan defender. The touchdown gave Penn State the spark they needed on offense, and the confidence they built ultimately led to the Nittany Lions' wild comeback win.

There may be no tight end in the country that means more to his team than Warren does to Penn State. The Nittany Lions will continue to lean on his veteran leadership and inspiring play to continue their early season success.

Bednarik Player of the Week

LB Isaiah Glasker, BYU

The redshirt sophomore linebacker has asserted himself as a vital part of the No. 13 BYU Cougars (6-0, 3-0 Big 12 Conference) defense early on in his career. Glasker has held down the middle of a defensive unit that is tied for seventh in the FBS with 14 turnovers forced in just six games. Against the Arizona Wildcats (3-3, 1-2), Glasker continued his dominance.

Throughout the game, Glasker came up with big plays when the Cougars defense needed it. Trailing 21-7 early in the third quarter, the Wildcats offense took the field hoping to establish some positive momentum and get back into the game. Instead, Glasker wreaked havoc on their offensive line, getting a sack on quarterback Noah Fifita and forcing a fumble that gave the BYU offense a chance to extend their lead.

In total, Glasker tallied 5 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, a sack, a forced fumble, a pass breakup, a quarterback hit and an interception that he returned for the game's final touchdown. The pick-six capped off a dominating 41-19 BYU victory and continued to build on the Cougars' surprising undefeated season.

The Cougars' defense has been a key part of their early season success, and Glasker has played a pivotal role in the defense. BYU will hope he can continue to elevate the rest of the defensive unit with his dynamic play.
